While Stems is typically considered an ensemble of musicians, fronted by lead guitarist and composer John Dorr (currently based in Germany), what we’ll see here in Gothenburg during this September evening is John performing his very own rendition of a soundtrack to the French silent movie, ”La coquille et le clergyman” from 1928, by looping various instruments.

Drawing inspiration and creating some sort of hybrid between the earthy feel of Wovenhand, mixed in with the calm segues of Cult of Luna, and a pinch of the dissonance of early MONO, this Gothenburg-based quartet will bring us closer to the abyss with their inherent apocalyptic nature. Having released an eponymous debut EP back in 2017, they’re returning with new material in the pipeline and a single to be released shortly.
